When Employees Selecting to Stay Were also Among the [Very] First to be Hired

Steve Losh's indiscreet online resume[3] of sorts

  1. Plano Internet[2] (Dial Up Support Employee #1 [just me the first year]) -> Dallas Internet[1] -> Ethos Communications -> Catalog.com (same company/different names over time)

Catalog.com -> ThePlanet Internet Services

ThePlanet Internet Services -> SoftLayer Technologies

SoftLayer Technologies -> SoftLayer, an IBM Company

[IBM acquires SoftLayer Technologies]

SoftLayer, an IBM Company -> IBM Cloud

[1] ThePlanet Internet Services/SoftLayer Technologies "Founding Fathers" met and started here in year two of Plano/Dallas Internet's existence

[2] A small, fledgling, Dial-up Internet Service Provider (ISP) back in the day

[3] Remember the rumor several years ago that Al Gore "invented the Internet"?  And while that turned out to be a misquote (evidently), could that same type of generalized statement be applied here in terms of the "creation of IBM Cloud"?

Could the creation of IBM Cloud built on Softlayer's existing Cloud foundation almost ten years ago indirectly have come about as a result of providing the only line of technical support[2] for Plano Internet dial-up customers in the first year of the company’s existence?

All joking aside, it does make for an interesting thought though, huh? :)

Alter Bridge - Last of our Kind (Lyrics)

There's something creeping just beyond the door
And it's raging like we've never seen before

Oh, annihilate (annihilate)
Eradicate (eradicate)

We'll be erased (we'll be erased)
We cannot run, we only crawl

Obliterate (obliterate)
There's no escape (no escape)

We must remain (must remain)
Or there'll be nothing left at all

(Nothing left at all)

The symphony of agony plays on
We pay the price, the last in line to fall

As the symphony plays on

Suffering, are we lost in genocide

And though we're aching
Won't give up without a fight

Oh, fight the pain (fight the pain)
It never fades (it never fades)

It overtakes (it overtakes)
Won't beg for mercy, though we could

It's not too late (it's not too late)
We'll find a way (we'll find a way)

Beyond this fate (beyond this fate)
And we will fight forever more

(Fight forever more)

The symphony of agony plays on
We pay the price, the last in line to fall

As the symphony plays on

There can be no compromise
When you know it's wrong [right]

'Cause, in the end, our sacrifice
Was worthless [worth it] all along

The symphony of agony plays on
We pay the price, the last in line to fall
